CEJ hosted ‘Everyone Knows Someone: Domestic Violence during the Pandemic, Economic Crisis and Beyond’ on the 29th of November 2024 as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This event was an extension of a research study that was conducted by CEJ titled “Behind Closed Doors: Rapid Assessment of Domestic Violence during the COVID-19 Pandemic”. Representatives from civil society organisations, UN Agencies, diplomats, and government officials were present including, Her Excellency Bonnie Horbach, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and His Excellency Dr. Felix Neumann, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The event featured a presentation of the research, a performance, and a panel discussion. The panel consisted of a mental health professional, two Attorneys-at-Law, and one government stakeholder who contributed their insights and knowledge on the subject.
