On the 12th of March 2025, the Centre for Equality and Justice (CEJ), in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission and Saviya Development Foundation, conducted an Advocacy event in Galle to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The event targeted the diverse stakeholders working on mental health and psycho-social support to the victim-survivors of SGBV in the Galle district. There were 52 participants, including Women Development Officers, Child Rights Promotion Officers, Counselling Officers, Women Development Field assistants, attached to the Divisional Secretariat, police officers from Women and Children’s desks at police stations, journalists, and more.
The advocacy event had a panel discussion on issues related to mental health services for SGBV victims, and immediate actions to be taken were moderated.
The preparation of an action document based on the recommendations from the discussion was discussed.
