Mr. Gehan Goonetilleke
Gehan Gunatilleke is a lawyer and researcher specialising in international human rights and public law. He is a Research Director at Verité Research, and an advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Sri Lanka) on international human rights treaty compliance. He is also a doctoral student in law at the University of Oxford, and a researcher at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights. Gehan has taught post-graduate courses in human rights, democratisation and development offered by the University of Colombo, University of Sydney and the Open University of Sri Lanka. He is also a visiting tutor in human rights at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford. Gehan’s recent publications include Confronting the Complexity of Loss: Perspectives on Truth, Memory and Justice in Sri Lanka (2015) and The Chronic and the Entrenched: Ethno-Religious Violence in Sri Lanka (2018). He was a Fulbright scholar at Harvard Law School, and a Commonwealth scholar at New College, University of Oxford.
