Collectively Coping: War Affected Children at Risk and Resilient Mothers in Kilinochchi and Anuradhapura Districts

CEJ has established sixteen women’s self-help groups in the Anuradhapura and Kilinochchi districts. This project, which began in 2021, utilizes the self-help group approach to empower economically disadvantaged women in the communities of Anuradhapura and Kilinochchi. Each group contains approximately twenty women who function as a peer-to-peer support network to promote group saving and loaning methods, identify the difficulties faced within the community and address those barriers together. The project, which is still in the inception stage, has many upcoming activities including customized workshops that respond to the needs of each village and meetings to further increase the capacities of the community women.
