CEJ organized two full-day capacity-building workshops for rural women in Anuradhapura, Kilinochchi District, and Puttalam on the 10th and 11th of March 2022 and the 13th and 14th of October 2022. The workshops aimed to build the capacity of the select members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) by raising awareness about sexual bribery, improve their ability to cope with the issue, and to enable participants to help other women facing or who are likely to face the same issue and making them aware of relevant service providers. Evangeline Ekanayake facilitated the workshop in Anuradhapura, capacitating a total of 32 women from Kahtagasdigiliya and Horowpothana areas. Monica Alfred facilitated the workshop in Kilinochchi district, capacitating 46 women. For October, Varathagowry Vasudevan facilitated the workshop in Puttalam district, capacitating 50 women. In addition to the workshop in Puttalam, the participating women were given dry ration packs, each worth 10,000 LKR. These women were from low wage, middle income and financial poverty-stricken families. Some of the members are also victim-survivors of domestic violence and female head of households.
