Women Unite to Remember: Community Women Forums on Memory Reconciliation

CEJ organized a series of workshops in Jaffna, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Hambanthota and Puttalam between August and September 2018, with war affected community women in order to encourage community level participation in discussing memorialization as a form of reparation and to promote reconciliation. The workshops aimed at creating awareness on the TJ mechanisms with a focus on memory as a form of reparations to reconcile Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities;. The participants were encouraged to share their stories in the form of creative art work that will be compiled into an album of illustrations. A travelling exhibition will be held in 2019 to take the message of women’s memory for reconciling to the war affected communities.
