Workshop on combatting hate speech, disinformation, and CSGBV for social media influencers

A two-day residential training to capacitate social media influencers to combat hate speech, disinformation, and cyber sexual gender-based violence (CSGBV) was held in Negombo in February 2023. Twenty influencers attended the training, which included sessions on (1) disinformation, (2) an overview of CEJ’s work on CSGBV and state mechanisms, (3) a review of selected case studies of CSGBV victims from around Sri Lanka, and (4) a summary of the legal methods available to combat CSGBV. Following the knowledge sessions, a round table discussion was held to support the attending influencers in developing strategies and planning awareness-raising campaigns on the training material.
